Well Prepared Group in Badajoz, Spain! ICP Level 1 Badajoz 11-13 September

22 candidates and 2 examiners, 24 different and unique ways of understanding skating but all sharing the same passion: Skating!

This weekend has been really special, it was the second time that we had such a big group of candidates, and it was also my final exam as apprentice examiner for level 1. So I could perfectly understand the candidates nervousness when we first arrived to the magnificent  installations of the FMD and  Badajoz Town Hall that  Elena López our hostess for this course and responsible for Patinar por Badajoz ( http://patinarporbadajoz.es/ ) had booked and which  made the program go smoothly. Her excellent organisation made our lives, (candidates and examiners) really easy.

Although many of the candidates had previous teaching experience for many this was their first contact with teaching but all of them were eager to learn and share their experiences. The group had an incredible positive energy and open attitude, making it a pleasure to train them. They came from Badajoz and towns nearby such as Cacéres, Villanueva la Serena, or also from far away such as Burgos, Segovia, Ciudad Real, Talavera de la Reina, Asturias or Murcia. The skating scene in Spain keeps growing: consolidated clubs keep sending their instructor to achieve more structure for their classes and we see more groups and clubs in each program!

I’ve seen and attended several programs in the last few years and one of the things I like the most is the feeling of comradeship is palpable from the very beginning to the end of the program and lasts forever in the memory of those in the group.  From each program I can say proudly that I have left with more than I had brought in, and my hope is that candidates have that same feeling of being “richer” in knowledge and experience after the program.

I am a very lucky instructor, I have counted with the support of Asha Kirkby (www.skatefresh.com) , for me one of the most experienced instructors worldwide, examiner of ICP and with whom I’ve been so lucky to train  and I still train , and also with Kris Frondan, general manager of ICP and also a experienced coach  who have both helped me and taught me along the way…

I’m thankful for having both of you in my life!

22 candidatos y 2 examinadoras, 24 formas diferentes y únicas de entender el patinaje pero todos compartiendo una misma pasión: Patinar

Este fin de semana ha sido realmente especial, era la segunda vez que tenía un grupo tan  grande de candidatos, y también era mi examen final como examinador de nivel 1. Así que podía perfectamente entender el nerviosismo de los candidatos cuando llegamos por primera vez a las magníficas instalaciones de la FMD del Ayuntamiento de Badajoz, que nuestra anfitriona Elena López responsable de Patinar por Badajoz (http://patinarporbadajoz.es/) había reservado, y que nos permitieron que el programa transcurriera con total suavidad. La excelente organización de Elena hizo que nuestras vidas (candidatos y examinadores) fuera realmente sencilla.

Aunque muchos de los candidatos ya tenían experiencia en enseñanza de patinaje, para muchos este programa era su primer contacto, pero todos ellos estaban con muchas ganas de aprender y compartir sus experiencias. El grupo tenía una increíble energía positiva y una actitud abierta, lo que hizo que fuera un placer formarlos. Teníamos alumnos de Badajoz y ciudades cercanas, como Cáceres,Villanueva de la Serena.. y también de más lejos, como Burgos, Segovia, Ciudad Real, Talavera de la Reina, Asturias, o Murcia. El panorama de patinaje en España sigue creciendo: clubs consolidados siguen enviando a sus instructores para que adquieran más estructura en sus clases y vemos más y más clubs, y grupos en cada programa.

He visto y he estado en muchos programas en los dos últimos años y una de las cosas que más me gusta, es la sensación de compañerismo palpable desde el principio del programa hasta el final y que perdura en la memoria del grupo para siempre. De cada programa puedo decir orgullosamente que he salido con “más” de lo que traía, y mi esperanza es que los candidatos tengan esa misma sensación de ser más “ricos” en conocimientos y experiencia después del programa.

Soy una persona muy afortunada, he contado con el apoyo de Asha Kirkby (www.skatefresh.com), para mi una de las instructoras más experimentadas a nivel mundial, examinadora de ICP y con quien he tenido y tengo la suerte de seguir formándome, y con Kris Frondan, Directora General de ICP y también experimentada entrenadora. Ambas me han ayudado y enseñado a lo largo del camino…

¡Me siento tan afortunada por poder contar con vosotras en  mi vida!
