Rollerblade China Sponsors Successful Level 1 in Beijing, China
Jul 21, 2015By ICP Director Kris Fondran, USA
It is very exciting to see how the profile and popularity of ICP is growing in China. In the last 3 months, we have conducted programs in Shaoxing, Chongqing and now Beijing, certifying over 100 new instructors from cities throughout the country.
With Rollerblade China as this programs sponsor, and the ICP team in place, [Lead Examiner Brent Tay (Singapore), Apprentice Examiners Zheng Chen Jie (Shanghai), Xu Wei(Shanghai), Wu Jian Hao (Guanzhou) , China ICP Coordinator Chen Yuan Gui (Shenzhen) and assistant Xiu Hui (Shenzhen), 41 enthusiastic instructor candidates were in good hands during the certification process.
The program was conducted at Qiaobo Ice & Snow World , a year round indoor ski doom and sport center built on the initiative of the Chinese world speed-skating champion, Ye Qiaobo. Given our group’s passion for skating, and our collective goal of teaching more people to skate and skate better, I believe Ye Qiaobo would have been proud to know her facility played a part in further growing the sport of skating in her country.
It was a pleasure for me to spend time with the ICP team again as I was just with them in Chongqing in May, and to get to know, and work closely with, the Rollerblade China team. Since the ICP’s inception in 1991, there has always been a synergy between the ICP and the company Rollerblade, and I am pleased to see this relationship continue in China. The cooperative effort established during this program should serve as a launch ramp to the increased availability of effective instruction and higher quaility skates, creating more skaters and skating opportunties country-wide.
A special thank you to Rollerblade China Managing Director Remigio Brunelli for seeing the win-win by investing in a partnership with the ICP, and for Rollerblade China team member Jing Chen for rolling with everything coming her way and for keeping the program running smoothly throughout.
