Instructors from Spain Improve Teaching & Skating Skills on Pavement AND Snow!

On 26 & 27 November, 2016 instructors coming from Barcelona, Palencia, Madrid and Ourense were ready to continue their educational training as skating leaders in their respective cities and the inline industry. The Professional Development Workshop (PDW), covering instructor communication and leadership, was led by ICP Examiner Dave Cooper (USA). Dave was a former board member of the International Inline Skating Association (IISA), a speed skating record holder, one of the orginal founders and examiners of the ICP,  and is current owner of 2 Wheel Safety Training (Motorcycle Safety Training California, USA).  Having Dave on hand to share his experience and expertise on and off skates, as well as his vibrant personality, was a certanly appreicated by all and a highlight of the weekend!

The "Working with Children" workshop was lead by Natalia Santamaria, ICP European Program Coordinator and ICP Examiner (Spain). This is the second time we have done this workshop in Spain this year with the first being in July in Burgos. Again the reception was very positive and the instructors were pleased with all that they learned. Given that Children are such a unique group to work with and there is so much to consider and many challenges to overcome when teaching them how to skate, this workshop is a "must do" for all instructors.

Both the PDW and children's workshop were a success by giving more ideas, knowledge and experience to the instructors. They all left with a lot more information, options and tools to improve their classes and the learning of all their students.  Their tired but happy faces at the end of the day was the real proof of the intensity of the training.

On Sunday we were all ready to assit to Spain's first Sled Dogs Snowskates Ambassador program.  The program took place in Madrid Snowzone. The Madrid Snowzone is  the only indoor snow facility in Spain and is located inside Madrid Xanadú Shopping Mall.

We all were thrilled to try out the latest Sled Dogs Snowskates. Some of the instructors had no prior experience on the slopes, and watching them evolve on the snow was more than satisfying. Our snowskates caused a lot of attention on the slopes throughout our sessions on Sunday.  We are thrilled to now how a total of 4 Sled Dogs Snowskates Ambassadors in Spain!

El 26 y 27 de noviembre de 2016, instructores llegados de Barcelona, Palencia, Madrid y Ourense están preparados para continuar su formación deportiva y convertirse en líderes para sus respectivas ciudades y para la industria. El Taller de Desarrollo Profesional (PDW), trató de la comunicación y el liderazgo para instructores de patinaje en línea, y fue impartido por el examinador de ICP Dave Cooper (USA). Dave ha sido miembro del Consejo de Dirección de la Asociación Internacional de Patinaje en línea (IISA), es portador de record de patinaje de velocidad, uno de los fundadores y primeros examinadores de ICP, y actualmente es el propietario de 2 Wheel Safety Training (Formación en Seguridad para Motos en California USA). Tener a Dave con nosotros compartiendo su experiencia y formación, así como su vibrante personalidad fue una de las cosas más apreciadas y valoradas por todos durante el fin de semana.

El taller “Trabajando con Niños” fue impartido por Natalia Santamaria, Coordinadora de Programas en Europa y Examinadora ICP (España). Esta es la segunda vez que hemos realizado este programa en España este año, siendo el primero en julio en Burgos, y de nuevo la recepción fue muy positiva, instructores satisfechos con lo aprendido. Los Niños son un grupo especial para trabajar, en el que es importante tener en cuenta muchos aspectos y retos que superar cuando les enseñamos a patinar, este taller debería ser un “imprescindible” para todos los instructores.

Tanto el PDW como el Taller de Niños, fueron un éxito total, añadiendo ideas, conocimiento y experiencia a los instructores que terminaron el fin de semana con mucha información, opciones y herramientas para mejorar sus clases y el aprendizaje de todos sus estudiantes.  Sus caras cansadas pero felices al final del día son la prueba real de la intensidad de la formación.

El domingo todos estábamos listos y preparados para asistir al Sled Dogs Snowskates Ambassador program que se realizaba por primera vez en España. El programa se realizó en Madrid Snowzone, única pista indoor en España y que está localizada en el interior del Centro Comercial Madrid Xanadú.

Todos estábamos súper excitados por probar los patines  Sled Dogs, algunos de los instructores no tenían ninguna experiencia previa en las pistas, y ver su evolución en la nieve fue más que satisfactorio. Nuestros patines de nieve llamaron mucho la atención en las pistas de Snowzone, y ahora contamos con 3 embajadores de Sled Dogs más en España, que se unen a nuestra coordinadora. Así que prepárate, pronto tendremos más test y más programas para probar estas bellezas...
