ICP Joins Sled Dogs Snowskates Asia Tour

In December 2017 three ICP Examiners & Snowskate Instructors (Xu Wei aka 'Star', Kris Fondran, & Lorne Milne) joined the Sled Dogs Snowskates Asia tour to continue introducing this new sport!  Along with several Sled Dog Snowskates "Top Dogs"  we gave demo's and lessons at 7 Snow Facilities in Asia- China's Beijing Nanshan Snow Village; Harbin University Ski Campus, Harbin Wanda Indoor Ski & Winter Sports Resort; Korea's Jisan Forest Snow Village; Korea's Oak Valley Snow Village & Peyongchang Alpensia Ski Resort.

First Tour Stop: Beijing's Nanshan Snow Village

Snowskating was extremely well received throughout all stops on our tour. The Sled Dog Team support staff set up free rentals and the ICP Team provided a brief initial lesson for all the learners covering some of the basics balance and functional skills on snowskates. All those who were new to snowskating had great success in such a short time!

Harbin University Students Have a Blast in the Snow!

At Harbin China's Mt. Maoery we gave 2 days of a instruction to the Harbin Sports University professors, graduate and 4th year students majoring in Snow Sports. This University is very innovative in their specialties.  In addition to snow sports degrees in such skiing and ice hockey, you can actually get a Sports Degree in Basketball or Ping Pong at their City Campus!   

Later in the week we were then to put to the test at the Harbin Wanda Indoor Ski & Winter Sports Resort  to see if we could give a successful lesson in 35 minutes. Kris and I each gave a beginner a 1 on 1 lesson. We quickly ran them through the introductory functional skills of snowskating and then carefully guided up the 'Magic Carpet' lift to lead them down a beginner/ intermediate run! They made it to bottom with control and many successful turns!  Yes, the staff of the Indoor Snow Park were impressed with the snowskates and what a ICP Snowskate Instructor can teach in such a short amount of time!

Sled Dogs & ICP Go to the Olympics!

It was exciting to visit South Korea and Peyongchang's Olympic Snow Village.  They did a tremendous job of perparing the venue by covering the slopes with man-made snow (as there was no natural snow at the sides of any runs)! There were lot of advanced Skiers and Snowboarders on the hill so we went beyond just beginner lessons and gave sessions on steep Black Diamond Runs!

Snowskating is a natural (and quick) transition for ICP Instructors. Having taught on snowskates for several seasons, it is so much fun to see my inline skating students make a seemless transition to the snow!

In addition, ICP is launching the Snowskate Ambassador Course in the eLearning platfom open to both certified instructors and snowskate enthusiasts. All who pass who successfully pass the course will receive a "Snowskates Ambassador" certificate and those who are already certified through the ICP will receive  "Snowskates Ambassador" endorsement in the ICP Global instructor directory.
